Episode 8 Overview- October is Disabilities Awareness Month.
In this episode, Dr. Jeck has a conversation with two young men who share their inspirational stories of overcoming disabilities and advocating for awareness. Guests include Ryan Perry, a 2014 graduate of Fauquier High School and Lane Mullins, a senior at Liberty High School.
Dr. Jeck poses the following questions to Ryan and Lane:
- Lane: You accidentally ate some radioactive vegetables. They were good but what's even cooler is they endow you with a superpower of your choice. What's it going to be?
- Ryan: What historical figure would you like to have a chat with?
- Lane: Tell me about your experiences with the LHS band and the things you've had to overcome. Do your classmates help you out?
- Ryan: Tell me about the play and what interested you in playwriting and acting.
- Lane: What is drawing you to Virginia Tech? What would you like to study there? Have you ever thought about going into teaching?
- Lane and Ryan: Are you comfortable discussing your disability?
- Lane and Ryan: Have you ever been made to feel uncomfortable?
- Lane and Ryan: What advice would you give to another student who is struggling with their disability or how they are perceived?
